ON TRACK

What is it?

Individually tailored placements for summer experience, gap years, medical electives, bible college placements. Start the process by telling us your skills and talents by filling in our Initial Enquiry Form. We can then tell you if we think there might be opportunities available for you to use your skills.

The next stage is to apply (Download our application form here), then we can start to make enquiries with your chosen location to see if they have any appropriate placements for you to serve in that country (NB. this can only be done after your application and references have been received and once an interview has been conducted).

What sort of thing can I do?

We have opportunities for people to serve in all kinds of fields such as administration; childrens work; engineering, wildlife and environmental conservation, medicine; optometry; dentistry; occupational therapy; speech therapy; physiotherapy, information technology and much more. Whatever your gift, we can use you!

Who is it for?

Anyone over the age of 18. You don’t have to be qualified in a specific job – just have skills that are transferable for use overseas!

How long is it for?

From 6 weeks (minimum) up to 1 year.

How much does it cost?

This depends on where you go and the length of time you go for. Things you will pay for include:

  1. Application fee: £90

  2. Interserve International fee: $75 for the first 3 months and $25 per month after that.

  3. Flight costs: Dependant on location and how far in advance flights are booked

  4. Visa costs: Dependant on location

  5. Insurance costs: Dependant on location & insurance company

  6. Vaccination costs: Dependant on location

  7. Accommodation costs: Dependant on location and whether you live with an ex-pat worker or with a local staff worker. This is arranged by the On-Track Co-ordinators once your placement is confirmed.

Most On-Trackers engage in fundraising to help cover the costs of their placement, alternatively you can opt to cover the costs yourself. We have a list of fundraising ideas should you need any.

On-Trackers generally organise their own travel arrangements and use the opportunity to do some additional travelling before or after their period of service. We can assist you with booking flights and arranging insurance and visas if required, we do not charge for this service. We can recommend specialist companies for our short and long-term volunteers and can provide you with competitive quotes from these companies.

When do I need to apply?

It generally takes a few months to set up a placement as they are tailored individual placements. We would recommend that you apply approx. 6 months prior to your planned date of departure.

What do I need to have?

  1. -a valid passport (valid for at least 6 months after you are due to return to Ireland)

  2. -good health, fit enough to cope with Asian weather and culture

- a Church that is willing to pray for you and help you with fundraising

  1. -a willing heart, ready to step out and be used by God in Asia or the Middle East (this is the most

  important!)
