McConkeys
We first came to Nepal in 1976, a few years after we were married. Jayne, our daughter, was 7 months
old then and we worked with United Mission to Nepal as hostel parents and science teacher in a school
in Pokhara. In 1986 we moved to Kathmandu until 1991 when we returned to Northern Ireland. In 1990
we spent a year in Thailand, covering the study leave of an Interserve Director and it was during that
year that God opened up the way for us to return to Nepal. We have been in Kathmandu since 2001,
we moved to Nepalgunj in 2008 but returned again to Kathmandu in 2009. Overseas mission has always
been on our hearts ever since we were married and we still believe there is a role for such cross-cultural
work.
Jayne is an artist and currently lives in Belfast. Mark was born in Nepal and he is married to Jenny from the USA, they live in Texas with their two children - Helena and Jude. Mark is a worship & arts pastor in a church near their home in Texas. Andrew lives in London and is also involved in music.
During our service in Nepal we have always worked with the United Mission to Nepal. David is on the UMN Leadership Team and does most of their relationship work with the government. David facilitates Integral (wholistic) mission training in the Christian Community as well as his involvement in running Forgiveness and Reconciliation workshops. David forms part of the Interserve Country Leadership Team in Nepal. Ann is the Personnel Team Leader for UMN, she manages the 7 member team, dealing with a range of issues relating to expatriate and Nepali staff: recruitment, care, training, monitoring, troubleshooting, etc. As a couple they help as they can in local churches.
Pray:
> for discussions that David is involved in with different government ministries relating to securing the property where UMN has
had its Kathmandu office for over 50 years.
