Population: Around 91 million.

Main religions:

Sunni Islam is the main religion in the region.  There are large numbers of Christians in the region, primarily Greek and Russian Orthodox.  Small numbers of Hindus can be found in the region, mainly in Afghanistan, and a few Tibetan Buddhists are also present.

Examples of Interserve projects in the region:

Helping the homeless, healthcare, working with people with disabilities, community development, media, education, student and youth work, teaching English as a foreign language and business.

  1. •Pray for the Christians to develop a strong sense of integrity so that they may be salt and light.

  3. •Pray for Christians in this region as they face new challenges in the shape of restrictive religious laws now being implemented in many of the central asian countries.
