On Track

On-Track Application Procedure

1) National Office Fee, photographs, Application form & CV received

2) The National Co-ordinator for On Track (NCOT) will send for your references.

3) NCOT will contact you to arrange an interview. This is relatively informal and usually done at the Belfast office, but can be arranged for another location.

4) You will be asked to sign the On-Track Commitment form (A copy can be made available beforehand).

5) On-Tracker to obtain Medical Report from GP

6) Ireland office will contact the Country Co-Ordinators for On Track (CCOT) in the regions you have suggested. This person will then search out possible opportunities for you. These opportunities will be passed to you and you are free to choose from what is given. Sometimes no opportunities arise, but we will endeavour to find somewhere that you can use the individual skills and talents God has given you. The Ireland NCOT will be your main point of contact during this time.

7) Arrangements in the Event of Death Form to be signed.

8) Arrange Flights, Visa, Insurance, Vaccinations
On-Trackers usually arrange these themselves.
The NCOT cannot advise on vaccinations as we are not medically trained.
We can help you with flights, visa and insurance. We do not charge for this service, so will simply assist and guide you. We have a travel agent and insurance company who we frequently use and can put you in touch with them and get quotes on your behalf, etc. Please inform the NCOT of all arrangements you make regarding travel, visa and insurance.

9) Orientation before leaving Ireland
A morning/afternoon will be spent with the NCOT chatting about orientation/cross-cultural living issues and general information about your host country/placement.
You will be given an orientation manual to read through before you go.

10) Contact while overseas
The NCOT will keep in touch (usually by email) with you while you are overseas. Our prayer partners love to hear from those who are serving short-term, so regular prayer letters would be greatly appreciated. If appropriate it is also a good idea to create a blog page for friends and family to consult while you are away. It will save you from having to email a number of different people to tell them the same things.
The CCOT will be your main point of contact on the field if you have any problems, but please also advise the NCOT where possible.

11) Debrief
The CCOT will debrief you before you leave the country of service and the NCOT will debrief you when you return to Ireland. The NCOT will keep in touch with you and may ask you to consider writing articles for Interserve publications and representing Interserve at various events.
